Saturday 12th October 2019: The Border Concert Band Presents An Evening of Music with an American Flavour..
St Aidan’s Church, Warwick Road, Carlisle 7.30pm

The Border Concert Band entertained High Sheriff Marcia Reid Fotheringham with a programme of music specially chosen to reflect her American upbringing. With music by Sousa, Gershwin and Bernstein, among others, the band took the audience on an energetic musical journey through selections from Broadway shows such as West Side Story and My Fair Lady, and films including Star Trek, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West, rounding off the programme with Stars and Stripes Forever, the official march of the United States of America.

Saturday 5th October 2019: An Evening with a Rock Star
Doug Scott at Tullie House Museum, Carlisle
In a relaxed interview with Jim Fotheringham, local mountaineering legend Doug Scott spoke of his 66-year long love affair with the high peaks and of his continuing support for the local communities in Nepal through his charity Community Action Nepal. An auction of stunning photographic prints took place at the end of the talk and signed copies of Doug’s latest book were on sale.

Thursday 1 August 2019: An Evening with Maddy Prior and Friends
Greystoke Castle, Greystoke 6.00pm

Fabulous music at Greystoke Castle and another fundraiser for Cumbria Community Foundation! A huge thank you to Maddy Prior and her band, The Misdemeanours, and classical guitarist James Booth. Stunning performance from all! And a very appreciative audience who were fed deliciously by talented Andrew Pollock, The Lost Chef.

Saturday 20th July: Smooth Jazz & Soul Festival
Kirklinton Hall, Kirklinton 6.00pm
Around 100 guests gathered for an evening of sparkling jazz and soul with The Marcangelo Trio, Roz Sluman and Big Shoes, and Soul Junction. The Lost Chef, Andrew Pollock, provided us with fabulous food and we danced the night away while raising money for Cumbria Community Foundation.

Thursday 4th July 2019: Summer Garden Party
Tullie House Museum, Carlisle 4.00pm to 7.00pm
This was my way of saying “thank you” to all of our wonderful volunteers who so graciously give their time and energy to others in our communities. Fifty charities were given two free tickets to attend.

Saturday 15th June 2019: Justice Day
Greystoke Castle, Greystoke 3.00pm to 7.00pm
This event was for all who are working or have worked for our court services, including judges, current or retired magistrates, solicitors, court administrators, support staff and anyone else who has supported our courts. It was a fun day together!

Saturday 30th March 2019: Inaugural Gala Charity Dinner
Garden at Eden (Eden Golf Club)
We celebrated the start of my High Sheriff of Cumbria year with an elegant three-course dinner. MC was Kevin Fernihough; after-dinner speaker Sir Chris Bonington; and we raised money for CCF with an auction. To finish there was great music and dancing!
