Cumbria Neighbourhood Watch AGM Conference, Carlisle 14th November – presenting the High Sheriff’s Award. The winners of were Burnside Parish Residents Association who did an excellent job improving their community – with loads of effort and very little money! The runners up were The Rotary Club of West Lakeland and Bowness and Windermere Community Care Trust (BWCCT).
Celebrating with The Well Communities in Barrow in Furness, 14th November. The event was the launch of their social supermarket and other guests included Lord Lieutenant, Claire Hensman and Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall.

‘An Evening with Maddy Prior and Friends’ at Greystoke Castle on Thursday 1st August saw Marcia host over 100 guests for a fabulous evening of music in a stunning location. As well as Maddy and her band, The Misdememours, and classical guitarist James Booth took to the stage in front of a most appreciative audience. Food from The Lost Chef, Andrew Pollock was on sale, and proceeds from the evening will go to Cumbria Community Foundation.
Visit to Eden Valley Hospice, Carlisle on Friday 26th July
On Saturday 20th July Marcia hosted an evening of great jazz and soul music at Kirklinton Hall. Sets by the Marcangelo Trio, Roz Sluman and Big Shoes, and Soul Junction followed each other and generated the atmosphere for a fabulous night raising money for Cumbria Community Foundation!
On Friday 12th July, Marcia was invited to open the new garden at Norman Street School, Carlisle. The children, along with teachers and parents, gave her a huge welcome! There were thank you speeches from the head boy and girl, and a variety of songs were performed to celebrate the day, with the High Sheriff’s chaplain, Reverend Keith Teasdale acting as MC. Marcia unveiled a plaque commemorating the event. Marcia’s comment? “The young people were terrific!”
